Politics. Glucksmann and Place publique will not "a priori" give their trust to Bayrou

Raphaël Glucksmann's party, Place publique, is unlikely to give its confidence to François Bayrou on September 8.
No "a priori" confidence: this is the position of Raphaël Glucksmann and his Place publique party, the day after François Bayrou announced that he would seek a vote of confidence from the National Assembly on September 8. The Prime Minister "has chosen the crisis" by deciding on a "forced passage" to find 44 billion in savings, the party announced in a press release.
"New political crisis""As with the dissolution wanted last year by the President of the Republic, the rush to the deadlines will lead to a democratic impasse," laments Place Publique, which has only one deputy in the Assembly. Raphaël Glucksmann's party, seen as a serious candidate for the 2027 presidential election , believes, "with gravity and lucidity on the consequences of this new political crisis," that it "can only refuse its confidence a priori to a government that exempts itself from the republican and sincere dialogue that alone allows us to build a path."

Place publique, which claims more than 11,000 members, believes that François Bayrou made "a serious decision" on Monday by seeking the confidence of the National Assembly on September 8, which ushers in a new period of political uncertainty. Since the Prime Minister announced in mid-July that nearly €44 billion in savings would be made in France's future budget, "no political discussions have been organized by Matignon with the political forces," regrets the party, created at the end of 2018.
"His call for responsibility alone cannot be enough to grant him confidence," adds Place Publique, for whom, "the responsibility would have been to organize a calm and transparent dialogue," and to accept "the compromise in a context of lack of majority." On the left, the Socialist Party, La France Insoumise, the Ecologists, and the French Communist Party have already announced that they will vote against confidence in François Bayrou. The same is true of the National Rally.
